About the Role
WEA is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ESOL Tutor to deliver a short, targeted course: “ESOL Online Driving Theory”, adapted for in-centre delivery.
Due to limited success with online delivery, we are looking for a tutor who can engage learners face-to-face, supporting them in developing both English language skills and driving theory knowledge in a practical, accessible way.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, structured ESOL sessions focused on driving theory content
- Support learners with varying levels of English to build confidence in reading, listening, and understanding driving-related concepts
- Adapt teaching methods to suit in-person group delivery
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Track learner progress and provide feedback in line with WEA requirements
- Ensure sessions are interactive, practical, and learner-centred
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent)
- Has experience teaching ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
- Can confidently embed subject-specific language (e.g. driving theory terminology) into lessons
- Has strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
- Is reliable and able to commit to all scheduled sessions
- Experience teaching functional topics (e.g. driving theory, life skills) is desirable
