About the Role

WEA is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ESOL Tutor to deliver a short, targeted course: “ESOL Online Driving Theory”, adapted for in-centre delivery.

Due to limited success with online delivery, we are looking for a tutor who can engage learners face-to-face, supporting them in developing both English language skills and driving theory knowledge in a practical, accessible way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support learners with varying levels of English to build confidence in reading, listening, and understanding driving-related concepts
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit in-person group delivery
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Track learner progress and provide feedback in line with WEA requirements
  • Ensure sessions are interactive, practical, and learner-centred

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent)
  • Has experience teaching ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
  • Can confidently embed subject-specific language (e.g. driving theory terminology) into lessons
  • Has strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
  • Is reliable and able to commit to all scheduled sessions
  • Experience teaching functional topics (e.g. driving theory, life skills) is desirable

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience/qualification)
  • Opportunity to work with a respected adult education provider
  • Support from WEA’s curriculum and quality teams
  • A rewarding role helping learners gain practical life skills
